This project has been a wonderful learning experience. I learned several practical tasks for college, which will enable me to save money and be a more competent adult. However, in addition to that, I also learned several things along the way:
I decided I wanted to carry this idea of "learning through experience" forward to college. Next year I will begin taking difficult pre-med classes in biology and chemistry. To get experience with this, and to see the practical side of what I will be learning in class, I want to work at a clinic. This led me to do some considerable research on the types of certifications I could get in order to work in that setting. In the end, I enrolled in a course at the Professional Development Institute in Frisco (in partnership with the University of North Texas) to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. This certification was something I had vaguely considered at the beginning of the school year, but after my experience with this project - I realized the necessity of "experience" in order to learn effectively (and to apply to a competitive graduate school). So, in the end, the end of this project is not a conclusion - it's a beginning of a lifetime of learning.
